Wines of South Africa
Join me as we explore one of the most vibrant wine scenes globally. South Africa is the eighth largest wine producer in the world and crafts a wide diversity of varietal, blends and styles of wine. S.A. wines exported to the U.S. ten or twenty years ago were often disappointing: high volume, inexpensive and uninteresting. Things have changed and we now have access to high quality wines that rival those of France and other quality regions—especially their Chenin Blanc and Bordeaux blends. We’ll also taste Pinotage, the national grape varietal, which is, rarely grown outside South Africa.
